A number of charities working for blind and visually impaired people came together in 1987 to form a partnership to fundraise through pre-tax payroll giving. To illustrate the breadth of our work the partnership chose the name Blindcare. It is one of only a small number of organisations fundraising in such a wide partnership and is one of the most successful. By 1993 this success led to the consortium being turned into a registered charity and a company limited by guarantee. In 2000, Royal Blind Society joined Blindcare as a partner charity.

Our support comes from thousands of regular donors recruited in the workplace who give by pre-tax payroll giving or by standing orders.  We also benefit from company matched giving, staff charity funds, legacies, lottery donations and general giving.

Our donors appreciate that their donations are divided equally between the member charities.

Blindcare attracts donors because our partner charities work together to deliver services that improve the lives of blind and visually impaired people of all ages and to address the causes of sight loss. We make a bigger difference because we can help more people, more effectively by working together.
