Blindcare was founded as a consortium of charities more than 25 years ago and became a registered charity in 1993. During this time our partner charities have been responsible for more than 90% of all expenditure on the welfare of people who are blind or visually impaired. We have been a very successful example of charities working together as equal partners to increase awareness and fundraise for a common cause.

The Future

Blindcare’s member charities have now decided that although we remain as supportive of each other’s area of focus as we have ever been, the pressures placed upon individual charities mean that we cannot all put energy into the consortium in the future. At a time when it is becoming even harder for charities to raise essential funds, Blindcare can have more impact by focusing on a specific aspect of visual impairment.

From 2019 Blindcare’s primary focus will be centred on education and training for people who are blind or partially sighted at The Royal National College for the Blind (RNC).

If you would like to contact us regarding the changes to Blindcare please email us in the first instance at and we will be happy to talk to you.
